Gadkari Launches ₹6,600 Cr National Highway Projects in Odisha
Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has inaugurated 28 National Highway projects in Odisha, with a total investment of ₹6,600 crore. These projects include significant upgrades like the 6-laning of the Chandikhol to Bhadrak section of National Highway-16 and the 4-laning of the Baharagora-Singhra section of National Highway-49. The initiatives aim to reduce travel time, fuel consumption, and enhance connectivity to ports along the east coast, thereby stimulating industrial activities.
Additionally, the foundation stone for 26 ambitious projects has been laid, with work commencing on 13 others. Completion of these projects is expected to accelerate economic development in Odisha, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for pilgrims visiting Shri Jagannath Dham and Konark Temple. Improved connectivity between Odisha and other states will facilitate easier access to ports for mining and raw materials, thereby boosting economic activities. Furthermore, the construction of railway bridges will ensure safer and faster transportation.
