IDCO Invites Tenders for International Airport at Puri, Odisha
The Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) has initiated the tendering process for the development, operation, and maintenance of the first phase of Sri Jagannath International Airport in Puri. Inviting international competitive bids on behalf of the Commerce and Transport department of Odisha, the project is estimated to cost Rs 2,203 crore and will be executed under Public Private Partnership mode. The first phase, aimed at handling 4.6 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA), is anticipated to be completed within three years.
The tender process commences on February 21, with technical bids opening on April 21. Spanning across 1,164 acres at Sipasarubali in Puri, the airport will adhere to the Greenfield Airports (GFA) Policy, 2008, with site clearance approval granted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in 2023. The endeavor is expected to bolster tourism, fulfilling Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an international airport in the sacred city in 2021.
