ADB & Indian Govt Ink $250mn Pact for Delhi-Meerut RRTS Project
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India have signed a 37 billion Japanese Yen ($250 million) agreement to continue financing the 82-km Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor. This agreement follows the ADB's prior approval of a $1,049 million Multi-tranche Financing Facility in 2020. The RRTS, part of the NCR Regional Plan 2021, aims to enhance urban mobility and connectivity across Delhi and adjoining states. The project focuses on sustainable transportation, reducing carbon emissions, and positively impacting women and differently-abled travelers. ADB's ongoing support contributes to the development of an efficient and low-carbon railway system, aligning with climate change mitigation goals.
