HMRTC starts work on Rs 4,320-cr Faridabad-Palwal metro expansion
The Haryana Metro Rail Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has commenced groundwork for the Faridabad-Palwal metro connectivity project, following the state CM's announcement of the mega metro project with an estimated investment of Rs 4,320 crore.
A team from the District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) in Faridabad, including the principal advisor of HMRTC, SD Sharma, and representatives from RITES, reviewed the proposed Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) corridor from Ballabgarh to Palwal. The 24km track will encompass 10 stations, connecting industrial areas such as Sector 58-59, Alhapur, Baghola, Prithla, Sikri, Softa, and Palwal.
Different MRT system alternatives will be explored for the planned route, with the alignment to be determined after consultations with the NHAI and other stakeholders. The project will integrate Ballabgarh Railway Station, Ballabgarh Bus Stand, Palwal Bus Stand, and Raja Nahar Singh Metro Station.
The Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) will conduct the techno-feasibility study for this route, which is expected to be completed soon. Additionally, a comprehensive mobility plan is being developed for Palwal. The upcoming metro line will be elevated, with an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore per kilometer.
Once the technical feasibility assessment is concluded, the project will be submitted for approval to the HMRTC, advancing the progress of this important metro connectivity initiative.
