NR to develop 11-km elevated corridor to decongest NDLS station
In an attempt to decongest New Delhi Railway Station, the Northern Railways plans to build 11-km long elevated road corridors around the Paharganj side of the station. The proposed corridors will offer multiple entries to the station from Basant Lane, Chelmsford Road and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg. The exit ramp of the elevated structure will be on Asaf Ali Marg and Bhavbhuti Marg. A tender for the project has already been floated last month and Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is holding a pre-bid meeting. The plan also involves widening of road around the station area including Chelmsford Road, Bhavbhuti Marg, Minto Road, Panchkuian Road and Basant Road.
