MoPSW Approves ₹800cr Project to Revamp Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways has approved the ambitious project for the Reconstruction of Berth No. 8 and Mechanization of Berth Nos. 7 and 8 at Netaji Subhash Dock of KDS, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata. The project, estimated at Rs. 809.18 crore, will be executed on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
This project aims to revolutionize the operational landscape of the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port by establishing an efficient and environmentally sustainable integrated cargo handling system. It will create additional berthing and cargo handling facilities, enhancing the port's capacity and competitiveness in import and export activities, leading to improved overall performance.
