Road Transport Ministry Constructs 12,349 Km of Highways in 2023-24
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) achieved the second-highest construction of national highways in its history, completing 12,349 kilometers in 2023-24. This follows the record 13,327 kilometers constructed in 2020-21.
In comparison, 10,331 kilometers of highways were built in 2022-23, slightly lower than the previous year's 10,457 kilometers. Additionally, 8,581 national highway projects were awarded in 2023-24. The government has initiated a pilot project offering cashless treatment to road accident victims, providing up to ₹1.5 lakh in medical assistance.
