SNP & Dryshield Waterproofing Unveils Book ‘Demystifying Waterproofing’
SNP Technologies and Dryshield Waterproofing hosted a gathering of architects and associates on May 4th, 2024, in Gurugram to celebrate their 25th Anniversary. The evening commenced with the traditional lighting of lamps and devotional music. Chief Guest, Professor Ar. Charanjit Singh Shah, graced the gathering and unveiled the book, "Demystifying Waterproofing,” authored by Sandeep Chaudhary, Managing Director of SNP Technologies. Prof. Shah also provided the ‘foreword’ for the book, which is a guide for architects, waterproofers, engineers, and other stakeholders in the construction industry.
Sandeep Chaudhary, who also serves as the head of the Waterproofing Association of India, delivered a presentation on the evolving landscape of waterproofing. He emphasized the integration of Smart Waterproofing Systems that incorporate sensors to detect early signs of leaks or moisture buildup. His insights underscore the importance of leveraging data from sensor networks and Building Information Modelling (BIM) to anticipate and prevent potential waterproofing failures through proactive maintenance.
He also highlighted the significance of Sustainable Waterproofing Solutions, advocating for the use of renewable, eco-friendly, and recyclable materials to minimize environmental impact and wastage, and integrating design with collaborative efforts of architects, engineers, and waterproofing experts. He emphasized water consumption for preventing leakage and seepage, as well as the importance of energy-efficient waterproofing systems in enhancing building insulation and reducing energy consumption, thereby contributing to overall sustainability efforts.
Addressing the diverse challenges faced in different climates and environments, he outlined the necessity for waterproofing solutions capable of withstanding extreme conditions, ranging from polar climates to arid regions and areas with high water tables. He introduced innovative techniques such as nano coatings and nanostructured surfaces, which offer superior water-repellency and durability.
The presentation was followed by a panel discussion on “Future Waterproofing Challenges” by panelists Prof. Shah; Gaurav Markanda, an OMC; Samir Surlaker, manufacturer of construction chemicals; and Sandeep Chaudhary. Srinivas Prasad Jayanti, Founder & MD at LaGreens India, moderated the panel. The discussion emphasized the importance of specialised knowledge and ongoing education in the field. It stressed the significance of thorough surface preparation and understanding the suitability of materials and techniques for specific environmental conditions to ensure delivery of high-quality waterproofing solutions. In his remarks, Prof. Shah lauded Sandeep Chaudhary’s initiative in publishing the book at a time when construction activities are booming in the country. The evening concluded with a musical performance, followed by dinner.
