Volvo Penta displays 13 & 8 litres engines
Volvo Penta India will be manufacturing its 5-8 litres, 105- 235 kw engines in a joint venture with Eicher Trucks.
In a bid to cut lead time and landed cost, Volvo Penta India will begin manufacturing its 5-8 litres, 105-235 kw engines at the company's joint venture power train manufacturing facility with Eicher Trucks at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. This was informed by Mr. Jonas Nilsson, VP, Volvo Penta India.
He says, "The base engines and the internal components will be localized. We will promote the engines for compressors, forklifts and other material handling equipment. We will market the engines not only in India, but also look for export markets. The engines to be manufactured based on Volvo Group's common design concept with optimized fuel efficiency will be ready for higher emission norms whether it comes now or later with base engine commonality for all emission stages."
Mr. Nilsson informed that Volvo Penta has entered into on agreement for supplying its BS CEV III Certified TAD852VE, 286 hp, 8 litres engines to TIL for certain segments of its mobile cranes. The company will offer the engines for other range of TIL's mobile cranes as well.
He says, "Along with varied off-highway segments, we are closely looking to tap the growing crushing and screening equipment market in India, led by rising demand of crushed aggregates for road construction projects. We are looking to promote our solutions to both track and fixed plants manufacturers mainly through our eleven and thirteen liters' engines. Volvo Penta's fuel efficient engines, with high levels of cooling and heavy duty filtration systems will be suitable for crushing and screening equipment working at quarry sites with high ambient temperatures." Volvo Penta which displayed its 8-12 litres engines will expand sales following revamping of its existing dealer network. The company has 14 dealers with 85 touchpoints.
