Govt plans 8,000 units to house its staff
Opening huge business vistas for the real estate sector, the government has decided to build a big government residential colony in Ghitorni area of south Delhi. The housing complex, which is spreading across 250 acres will have 5,000 flats and 3,000 servant quarters units, sources in the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), said adding that the project, which will be largely a residential complex housing employees from the rank of assistants to deputy secretaries, will also have at least 30% space for office use, meaning construction of office buildings, which can be leased out by the government to public sector undertakings (PSUs) and corporate.

They said adding that the housing complex will be a complete sub-city where people living there will have all facilities with good connectivity to the rest of Delhi because of its proximity to the Metro station and moreover, the complex will come up after the new norms of Delhi Master Plan 2021, is out, there will be tall buildings in the area. In the housing project in question the government is going to utilize the floor ratio area that is permitted in the Master Plan. The focus will be to make it a more liveable sub-city with world class infrastructure in place. As per plans CPWD will build 2,000 Type-III, 2,000 Type-IV and at least 1,000 Type-V flats and there will be servant quarters for all Type-IV and V flats.
