In view of the burgeoning future business opportunities in the Indian power sector, Alstom T&D India, which is an arm of French energy major Alstom, has targeted a whopping investment worth Rs. 15,000cr for the country's power sector in the next couple of years, said an official spokesperson, adding that the in this connection the Indian government has already started the process of tendering for Rs. 4,500cr business opportunities in the Static Var Compensators (SVCs) area offering business opportunities worth Rs. 6,000cr. In addition, Grid security technology is another great business area, which requires specialized components such as Static Var Compensators 1,700 Phasor Measurement Unit PMUs put to use in electricity transmission grids required by the company for strengthening the transmission network n the country. This is so because a series of projects are coming up and they will require several SVCs, PMUs grip components in different parts of India and the player is more than ready to execute the same, he added.
