Adding to its order book in the power equipment sector, the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, in a recent development has bagged an order worth nearly Rs. 3,000cr from the country's giant energy generators for the supply of steam generators for an upcoming power project in Odisha. The order involved supplying 2x800 MW steam generators (boilers) with super critical parameters for the project at Darlipali in the coastal state, said official sources, adding that the contracts have been won in the face of stiff international competition. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the steam generators and auxiliaries and the key equipment for the contract will be manufactured at BHEL's Trichy, Ranipet, Bhopal, Hyderabad and Bangalore plants. With the latest cache, BHEL has taken its tally of super critical boilers of 660 MW, 700 MW and 800 MW ratings to 32 sets, cementing its leadership position further in super critical technology.
