Road Infra Projects in Delhi
Ensuring smooth flow of vehicular traffic on the two congested corridors, including Rao Tula Ram junction on the Benito Juarez Marg and a stretch between Andheria Mor and Aruna Asif Ali Marg, which are the key infrastructure projects in Delhi, the Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (Planning and Engineering) Centre (UTTIPEC) and the Lt Governor of Delhi, have given their clearance and the construction work on both these projects is set to start very shortly. In the first case, the projects included the building of parallel flyover on the Outer Ring Road at Rao Tula Ram junction and an underpass as both these projects were lying in limbo for quite some time, PWD sources said adding that the tendering is likely in the next few days and work on the projects will be started after that. In addition, other important project that received a boost is the road expansion project involving phase-I of the corridor development plan from the Mehrauli-Mahipalpur Road to Andheria Mor.

Though work on this project was started in February 2013 but after residents pointed out that PWD did not have permission from the forest department for tree felling, the building work came to a standstill. The project has since then been under scrutiny by NGT and the plan cleared by UTTIPEC is a modified version that includes realignment. The detailed project report for the RTR is in its final stages and after PWD receives a signed copy of drawings from UTTIPEC, the project will be tendered out subsequently. Apart from these two projects, UTTIPEC also cleared the underpass at the RTR Marg-Ring Road junction. That apart, the agency also cleared the streetscape plan for the EPDP Road, also known as Malik Ram Issar Marg in CR Park where work will include strengthening of the road, its landscaping, construction of pavements and drains, they added.
