The construction expo, which was inaugurated by the National President, CREDAI, C Shekhar Reddy and jointly organized by the Business Line and the Construction Association of India (CAI) at the Hitex Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad turned out to be a big draw. Players from the construction, architecture and interiors offered a wide range of products and services to business and individual customers. JSW Cements, Philips Light, Godrej Locking Solutions, Jindal Steel, Hindustan Concrete, ABC Elevator, Darpan Furnishings were among the main exhibitors at the 3-day event. In addition, the expo also attracted participants in featured categories of building materials, interior home products and security systems among others. Exhibitors included Ved electrical, Artisticks Alfa Peb, Sadanand Engineering works, Swastik Marketing (specializing in landscaping equipment) and Gayatri Elements. A similar event was also held in Chennai and in the next few weeks, the expo will be held in Bangalore and Coimbatore as well. Shekhar Reddy suggested that construction majors, interior designers and architects should seriously focus on growing opportunities in rural area to drive growth. During his interactions with exhibitors, he called upon the construction material makers and interior designers to offer functional and affordable products to give a push to the realty sector and meet the aspirations of the middle-class and poor families in both rural and urban India.
