While inaugurating a global investors' meet for the Metro project attended by at least 40 national and international investors, chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi recently stated that detailed Project Report (DPR) of Rs. 12,000cr has been prepared by RITES for the Patna Metro Rail which will help ease traffic congestion in the state capital having a population of about 22 lakh.
The project proposed to commence in 2016 is expected to complete in five years. The 27.88km Metro Rail project from Danapur to Mithapur (east-west corridor) and Patna Junction to ISBT (north-south corridor) will have an underground stretch of over 15km and elevated stretch of over 12km. The DPR proposes three-coach Metro run from 5am to midnight with the fare being anything between Rs 12. and Rs. 28 in the initial years.
