Adding to its hotel operation business, Kolkata-based Elgin Hotels Pvt Ltd, a heritage and boutique leisure company promoted by Brij Raj Oberoi, is on the expansion mode both in India and overseas.
The group is building, in partnership with a local partner which would hold 70% of the equity, a 65-key beachfront property branded as the Societe New Elgin Hotel on 2.5 acres on the north-west coast in Mauritius. "The property would be on a 60-year renewable lease and will have an artificial lagoon pouring onto the Indian Ocean, a spa and a couple of restaurants," said Viraj Oberoi, Director.
On the Indian projects, he added that, "We are also building a new 4-star deluxe hotel at Siliguri, West Bengal, and setting up a 30-room new wing at our Darjeeling heritage hotel." The three projects would cost Elgin Rs. 45 - 50cr.
