In view of the need to make good roadways in the state, the Punjab Government has recently given the go-ahead for the re-construction and repair work of 5,490 km of state highways and arterial roads. They are to be completed within a time frame of one year.

Janmeja Singh Sekhon, PWD Minister, reviewing the work plan chalked out by the government for the repair or construction of major highways and link roads in the state in 2015-16 at a meeting with chief engineers of all wings of the department recently, said 2015-16 would witness a large-scale infrastructural development in the state in which the government would execute its plan to repair all major roads, besides constructing new link roads to strengthen connectivity of the rural and urban areas.
