Hyundai Trains DMRC
The South Korea-based construction equipment manufacturing giant, Hyundai Rotem, has recently delivered its first train to DMRC, said sources claiming that the train, manufactured at Changwon in South Korea, arrived at Mundra port in Gujarat and was brought to Delhi on special trailers. DMRC would have to use the Hyundai-supplied 81 train sets (486 coaches) as per the advice of the central government against the contract awarded to the offshore company in April 2013.

The train coaches are likely to be pressed into service in Phase-III project of the DMRC to add 140 km to Delhi Metro's existing network. When the phase in question becomes fully operational in the next two years, the Metro's network will reach far-flung areas including Badli, Bawana, Najafgarh, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Noida, apart from bringing certain landmark destinations like the domestic terminal of the IGI Airport and the Red Fort on the metro radar.
