In its commitment to provide better transportation network in the state, including more intra-city bus services, fully automated vehicle inspection centres, the state government in Haryana in a latest move has fast tracked the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway popularly known as western peripheral expressway project, said chief minister, adding that the mega e-way project will be commissioned by March 2016. The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC) is the nodal agency to implement the project and that the tenders on the 135 km long expressway were invited in two packages that is 0.00 km to 83.320 km on BOT (annuity) basis and 83.320 km to 135.650 km on Item Rate Mode and that the state government, through HSIIDC, has recently submitted a proposal to NCRPB for seeking financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 457.81cr.
In a related development he said that the inclusion of Gurgaon for funding of city bus transport under the new scheme is being framed by the Urban Development Department to ease out the congestion on the roads. The state government has set up a fully automated inspection and testing centre at Rohtak for checking the road worthiness of transport vehicles and that three such additional centers would be established at Gurgaon, Faridabad and Karnal involving an estimated cost of Rs 60cr on building the required infrastructure, he added.
