Meghalaya gets Rs.625 cr road project
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has recently sanctioned Rs.625 crore to upgrade the stretch from Nongstoin-Ranikor via Wahkaji to a two-lane road in the north eastern state of Meghalaya. In this connection, Traditional heads under Nongsynshar Shnong Lai Lyngdoh (NSLL) in West Khasi Hills have also recently asked the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council to issue no-objection certificate for the construction of the two-lane road project. Stanley Kharbani, member of the NSLL said that they have asked KHADC chief executive member, PN Syiem and the executive committee of the KHADC to speed up the issuance of NOC. Revealing more information, Secretary of land owners, Franklin Kharbani said that 90% of land compensation has already been paid to the land owners while 10% of land compensation for Kynroh-Rangblang and also payment for the remaining portion is currently under process.
