UP metro initiates tunneling for Kanpur Metro's Strategic Link
The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has commenced tunneling operations for the Kanpur metro, connecting the priority corridor with the Chunniganj-Nayaganj section. The Nana TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) has been deployed at the MacRobert ganj Cut & cover Shaft to construct a vital 414-meter tunnel for the mega metro project. The Kanpur metro, valued at ₹11,076.48 crores marked the inauguration of its First Phase, the Orange Line, running between IIT Kanpur & Motijheel in December 2021, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. Presently, construction is underway for the remaining 14.9 km stretch of the Orange Line between Motijheel & Naubasta.
