NPG approves six projects amounting to Rs 14,081-cr
The Network Planning Group (NPG) in its 55th meeting has approved six projects comprising three from the Railways and three from the Road Transport and Highways ministries. The total cost for these projects amounts to Rs 14,081 crore. The three railway line projects involving an investment of Rs. 5374.5 crore include Greenfield railway line project through West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. The second Greenfield railway line is located in Odisha, and offers a shorter and alternative route to the existing railway line which will help alleviate congestion on the current track. The third railway line is located in Gujarat. Additionally, the NPG deliberated on three road projects, totaling Rs 8,706 crore. One of these road projects, the Dhubri bridge to Goeragre, is located in Meghalaya and will connect to the under-construction 4-lane Dhubri-Phulbari bridge, thereby contributing to the East-West Road Corridor. Another significant project is the Greenfield Road project from Kharagpur to Moregram, which is part of the Kharagpur Siliguri Road Corridor. Lastly, the Deoghar Bypass road project aims to alleviate city traffic congestion and provide benefits to local industrial parks and clusters. A total of 106 big-ticket infrastructure projects of different ministries worth Rs 11 lakh crore, have been recommended for approval under the PM GatiShakti initiative during this fiscal.
