PM launches social impact fund for digital public infrastructure in global south
During the Virtual G20 Summit, the Indian Prime Minister announced the initiation of a Social Impact Fund to support the implementation of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in Global South countries. India commits an initial capital of $25 million and invites other G20 members to join. The DPI repository, established at the Delhi G20 Leaders Summit, now has 16 countries with over 50 DPIs on board. India, sharing its success with technologies like Aadhaar, UPI, and Co-Win, aims to assist Global South nations in adopting similar digital infrastructure. The Prime Minister also emphasized the safe use of technology in the age of AI, expressing concerns about its negative implications worldwide.
