YEIDA unveils 1,100-acre Olympic village near Jewar airport
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has announced the construction of an Olympic Park and an Olympic Village on an area of 1,100 acres in Sector 22 near the Noida International Airport in Jewar. This initiative aims to match the country's infrastructure ambitions as it seeks a larger place in the international arena aligning with the Central government's intent to host the world's biggest sporting event in 2036. One of the two components of the park will be an Olympic City occupying the lion’s share of the park’s area — 965 acres — earmarked for the park, with 29 acres dedicated to different Olympic sports to be built in the area. Additionally, there are plans for sports clubs, training and coaching centres, convention centres, malls and theme parks within the park. The Olympic Village will cover 130 acres and consist of 5,000 housing units, primarily 3 & 4-BHK flats. Moreover, the residential enclave will be designed to provide accommodation to participants and others associated with sporting events.
