DFCCIL fixes locations to build freight terminals at railway stations
The Vadodara division of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL), engaged in the development of freight terminals at railway stations, has identified potential locations for the establishment of these terminals. The terminals are planned for locations including Makarpura, Varedia, New Sanjali, New Gothan, and New Udhana. Moreover, DFCCIL is committed to establishing an environmentally friendly corridor that stretches from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal (JNPT) in Mumbai to Dadri. To achieve this, DFCCIL intends to incorporate solar energy systems at many stations, aiming to make them energy-neutral. As part of this ongoing initiative, DFCCIL has initiated the trial run of goods trains on the newly electrified railway section that connects Gothangam to Makarpura, covering a 115 km stretch. This new railway section spans 135 km and traverses through the Surat, Bharuch, and Vadodara districts in Gujarat. Similarly, the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), linking Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Mumbai, traverses through five states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
