Govt approves 212.26km track doubling work in UP
The government has allowed to increase the existing line capacity in Uttar Pradesh to smoothen train operations, reduce congestion and facilitate ease of travelling and transportation, including doubling of railway tracks between Gorakhpur Cantt – Valmiki Nagar and Chopan – Chunar in Uttar Pradesh. Total 212.26km long track including 101.58km between Chopan – Chunar covering Mirzapur and Sonbhadra and 95.94km between Gorakhpur Cantt – Valmiki Nagar covering Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar and West Champaran of Bihar, will be laid at the cost of Rs 2,734.62 crore.
Apart from Uttar Pradesh, the Center will also fund Son Nagar-Andal multi tracking project, third line between Nergundi-Barang and Khurda Road-Vizianagaram, Quadrupling project for Samakhiali-Gandhidham and doubling work of the existing line for Mudkhed-Medchal and Mahbubnagar-Dhone and Guntur-Bibinagar.
