MMRDA invites bid for Kanjurmarg metro depot
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids for appointment of a consultant for the construction of Kanjurmarg metro depot. This project encompasses architectural work and the development of staff quarters on a 15-hectare site. Bids can be submitted by October 16, 2023 with a deposit of Rs 17.34 lakh. In Kanjurmarg, a designated area has already been allocated for the construction of the depot, which will serve the elevated Metro Line 6 running from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli Eastern Express Highway. The 15.31-kilometer Metro Line 6 is currently over 60 percent complete and is funded by the National Development Bank (NDB). It is expected to be finalized by the end of this year. The elevated corridor passes through various key points, including Metro Line 2A, Western Railway at Jogeshwari, Metro Line -7, WEH, Metro line-3, Metro line-4 and Central Railway at Kanjurmarg. Once commissioned, about 30 percent of the road traffic on the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road will shift to Metro Line 6. This elevated corridor will have India’s tallest station ‘Kanjurmarg’ at a height equivalent to a 10-storeyed building and will be the city’s only metro with a flyover under its structure.
