Odisha Cabinet greenlights Rs 5,929-cr Bhubaneswar Metro Phase I
The Odisha state cabinet has granted approval for Phase I of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project (BMRC) from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trisulia Square near Cuttack, with an investment of Rs 5,929.38 crore. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will oversee the 26-km-long first phase, encompassing 20 stations, including Capital Hospital, Rajmahal Square, and Vani Vihar Square. The project aligns with the Greater Capital Region plan, targeting a population of approximately 50 lakh people. The government aims to complete the first phase within four years, emphasizing minimal land acquisition and featuring ultra-modern coaches, advanced ticketing, and signaling systems. The metro train depot is slated for development at Trisulia.
