UP metro floats tenders for Rs 597-cr Kanpur metro rail project expansion
The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has initiated tenders for the elevated section and Metro Car Depot of Kanpur Metro Rail's Corridor-2 (CSA to Barra 8). The elevated section will include five stations: Agricultural University, Vijay Nagar Square, Shastri Chowk, Barra-7, and Barra-8, spread across two sections. The estimated cost for the construction contract is Rs 484 crore, with a completion timeline of 30 months. Simultaneously, another tender for civil construction and system installation in the Metro Car Depot and Corridor-2 workshop involves an investment of Rs 113.20 crore, with a completion period of 18 months. Construction is already underway for Corridor-1 of the Kanpur Metro project. The recent contract for the underground section and tunnel construction of Corridor-2 was awarded to the lowest bidder, Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL)-Gulermak JV.
