Sanathal Road Widening Project Faces Obstacles
The Sanathal road widening project has encountered a stalemate as the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) clash over land valuation for an extradosed bridge slated to span over the crossroads.
This bridge forms a crucial component of the road widening endeavor along the Ahmedabad-Bavla-Bagodara national highway, specifically targeting the Ujala Circle to Navapura stretch in Sarkhej.
The core of the dispute revolves around the merger of two service roads, totaling 20,958 sq m, into the NHAI highway by the AMC, projected to cost approximately ₹100 crore. Initially intended for transfer to NHAI, discord now arises from the AMC's appraisal of the land at a higher valuation. NHAI's response to the AMC's valuation has led to the issuance of a land acquisition notification, resulting in the current impasse.
