Delhi PWD plans 4.8km elevated corridor between Delhi and Haryana
The Public Works Department (PWD) in Delhi has proposed the construction of a 4.8-kilometer elevated corridor between outer Delhi and Haryana to alleviate traffic congestion. The PWD has submitted a proposal to the Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure Centre (UTTIPEC) for clearance of the link project, which is part of the 77 road interventions planned to address traffic hotspots.
The elevated corridor aims to relieve traffic congestion on the Najafgarh-Phirni, Kapashera, Dhansa, and Bahadurgarh Roads. The plan includes the construction of a one-carriageway road with seven ramps, reducing the distance between Delhi and Haryana. Pedestrian crossings will be provided at three major traffic junctions, namely Deen Bandhu Chotu Ram Chowk, Najafgarh-Kapashera intersection, and Najafgarh-Nangloi intersection. The project also entails the construction of footpaths, bicycle lanes, and green zones.
The Najafgarh-Phirni Road is a crucial route for commuters traveling between Delhi and Haryana, often leading to severe congestion during peak hours. However, with the completion of the new elevated corridor, motorists will bypass Najafgarh, saving travel time and experiencing smoother journeys.
