Delhi's Pragati Maidan Tunnel Faces Safety Concerns
The Pragati Maidan tunnel, inaugurated ahead of the G20 Summit, now faces safety concerns due to water seepage, cracks, and poor drainage, according to the Public Works Department (PWD). Notices have been issued to Larsen and Toubro (L&T), the construction company, demanding ₹500 crore for technical deficiencies. The project, costing ₹777 crore, experienced waterlogging during last year's monsoon. L&T has countered with a claim of ₹500 crore against PWD. The department highlights design faults and quality issues, insisting on a major overhaul of the project. Despite repeated requests, the issues remain unresolved.
