SJVN Inaugurates India's 1st Multi-Purpose Green Hydrogen Pilot Project
Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has marked a significant milestone with the launch of India's first multi-purpose green hydrogen pilot project at the 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) in Jhakri, Himachal Pradesh on April 24, 2024.
This pioneering project serves dual purposes: it provides high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) for NJHPS's coating facility and generates electricity through a 25 kW fuel cell. The plant produces hydrogen by electrolyzing water using a 20Nm3/hr alkaline electrolyser, powered by renewable energy from SJVN's 1.31 MW solar power plant in Wadhal, Himachal Pradesh.
