Gadkari Announces ₹2,675.31 Cr for Karnataka Highway Expansion
Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, announced the allocation of ₹2,675.31 crore for the 4-Laning of the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur Section of National Highway-748A in Bagalkot and Belgavi districts of Karnataka. This project, implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Mode, will cover a total length of 92.40 km. It forms an essential part of the Panaji-Hyderabad EC10 corridor, which connects key industrial hubs in the region.
The EC10 corridor links significant cities such as Panaji, known for its fishing, tourism, agriculture, and pharmaceutical industries; Belgavi, renowned for its production of food grains, sugarcane, cotton, tobacco, oilseed, and milk products; Raichur, recognized for its cultivation of rice, cotton, groundnut, and pulses; and Hyderabad, distinguished as a hub for IT, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and various startups located in Goa, Karnataka, and Telangana states, respectively.
This infrastructure development initiative aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods and people between these important economic centers. Additionally, it is expected to boost regional development and support various industries along the corridor.
