PM Modi Launches Connectivity Projects Worth ₹15,400 Cr in Kolkata
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple connectivity projects in Kolkata today. These projects include the expansion of the Metro Rail and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) to enhance urban mobility.
The Prime Minister inaugurated various metro sections and flagged off train services, including the first Underwater Metro route in India, the Esplanade - Howrah Maidan section. He also laid the foundation stone for the extension of the Pune Metro Rail project Phase 1.
These initiatives aim to alleviate traffic congestion and provide convenient connectivity. The projects include unique features such as India's first underwater transportation tunnel and the deepest metro station in the country. They will enhance connectivity to historical tourist sites and boost economic activity in the National Capital Region (NCR).
