Maharashtra CM Lays Foundation Stone for Metro Line 12
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde laid the foundation stone for Metro Line 12, linking Kalyan with Taloja in Navi Mumbai, heralding a development surge in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). This extension of Metro Line-5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) will significantly enhance connectivity in the MMR and expand the metro network.
Metro Line 12, spanning 22.173 km with 19 elevated stations, is estimated to cost around ₹5,865 crore and is slated for completion by end-2027. "The new metro line will revolutionize connectivity between Kalyan and Taloja, shortening travel times to south Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayender, and Virar," stated the chief minister at the project's foundation laying ceremony in Dombivali.
He emphasized that the travel time between Kalyan and Taloja will be reduced by 45 minutes post the completion of Metro Line 12. "Integration with Navi Mumbai will amplify connectivity, fostering development in the Kalyan-Dombivli region and spurring business growth," he added.
