Delhi Metro Plans Interchange at Tughlakabad Station
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to develop the Tughlakabad Metro station into a world-class interchange facility connecting the Violet Line and the upcoming Silver Line. The 23.62km Silver Line, part of the Metro's phase 4 expansion, will feature 15 stations, including four elevated and 11 underground ones. The Tughlakabad station, situated at one end of the Silver Line, will be constructed at a depth of 23m. The four-level underground structure will include a platform, concourse, parking floor, and a roof level at ground level. Additionally, DMRC plans to build a short subway connecting the Silver Line platforms to the existing Violet Line platforms, providing seamless transit for passengers. The subway, less than 100m long, aims to facilitate quick transfers between the two lines. The new Tughlakabad station will also be connected to DMRC's Sarita Vihar depot through a tunnel.
