Wirtgen’s cold milling, concrete paving, and surface mining equipment
Wirtgen introduces Hamm ECO Mode compactor for earthworks, battery-electric Hamm tandem rollers with zero emissions, innovative ‘hot on hot’ paving method for compact asphalt pavements and Kleenmann crusher, screens & scalpers
Wirtgen’s technologies, solutions and applications are designed to enable smarter, safer and more sustainable road construction processes and more efficient extraction and processing of materials in quarries and open cast mines. Among the highlights for the earthworks sector was the ECO Mode from Hamm. It reduces fuel consumption of the new HC series earthworks compactors by up to 20% while maintaining consistent high compaction performance. Also on display was the battery-electric Hamm tandem rollers that work with zero local emissions.
With the InLine Pave concept, Vögele presented a particularly innovative paving method that is ideal for ‘hot on hot’ paving of compact asphalt pavements. The contact-free, full-surface RoadScan temperature measuring system for temperature control during the asphalt paving process was also presented.
Cold in-situ recycling, which has also been in use in India for many years and is globally recognised as a particularly sustainable and cost-efficient method for road rehabilitation, was presented with a wheeled recycler from the WR series as an example. In addition, Wirtgen provided comprehensive information about its leading technologies in the areas of cold milling, concrete paving, and surface mining.
With the intuitive SPECTIVE plant operating concept, Kleemann has created a solution that satisfies the increasingly stringent requirements that will need to be fulfilled by operators of modern crushing plants. SPECTIVE enables crushing plant operators to safely and simply master the technology with a minimum of training.
Following the establishment of the Wirtgen Group’s active presence on the Indian market with its Sales and Service organisation, Wirtgen India, in the 2011 saw the start of the production of roller models for the local market at its factory in Pune. This was followed by the production of asphalt pavers, classifying screens and scalpers. Today, market-relevant products such as screening plants and rollers are also exported to Southeast Asia or the Middle East.
“Wirtgen India will continue to manufacture screens and scalpers at its Pune facility for both Indian and global markets,” informed Ramesh Palagiri, MD & CEO, Wirtgen India. “Our focus on the Kleemann line of business will be towards making the screens and scalpers but we will not be making the full range of primary and secondary crushing solutions, as of now. We will look at the opportunities present in the demolition waste recycling business and in bio mining.”
“We will continue to make the Hamm brand of compactors in India and will promote our solutions for surface stabilization, mobile feeders and contact-less paving.”
He informed that the company’s upcoming plant in Pune will manufacture the new range of Super 1900-J pavers, and Bharat stage V compactors and tandem rollers. “We will ensure sustainability in production as well as in our products for road construction. The Wirtgen Group always considers the entire construction site, and, with its Production Systems, thinks of its customers’ specific needs – from project planning and execution to end-to-end documentation of the construction site. Here, digitalization will be an essential driver for achieving greater sustainability and higher precision,” said Palagiri.
