Ashoktaru Chattopadhyay, Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology - India
Mr. Ashoktaru Chattopadhyay,
Business Line Manager – Crushing & Screening, Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology, India
Growth potential in mining and construction Industry is promising
The Roads sector is the main driver for our business, where the use of aggregate for road construction has continued to expand due to the government’s strong focus on development of needed infrastructure. We have strategically placed our products to cater to this demand.
Our Capex is a bit higher but the very low OPEX gives an optimum pay back to the customer. We are prepared to cater to the growing market in all aspects, be it product, people or customer service.
I am proud to say, that we deliver what we commit! And this is possible because of our vast global experience in the product line and the expertise and knowledge of our people.
Customer focus and innovation are the most important core values of Sandvik. We constantly engage with our customers to gather a deep understanding of their operations and applications. This has lead us to realize that there is an increasing demand for customized equipment.
Our Life Cycle concept is giving us a lot of trust in the marketplace
To ensure that the customer gets stable productivity, we have introduced the Life Cycle concept. In this, we understand the customer’s requirement, and follow it up with a visit to the customer’s site, understand the BOQ, take rock samples and get it checked from our factory in Sweden. It is only after a thorough understanding, do we offer solutions.
We are helping our customers obtain optimum productivity and succeed through minimum downtime and highest operational efficiency until the complete equipment life. With the Life Cycle concept, we are getting a robust trust in the marketplace.
Sandvik’s unique technology ‘SanRemo and ASRi system’ enables to monitor operations, performance, maintenance & location
Sandvik has a unique remote machine monitoring technology called SanRemo, which enables you to see the productivity, performance and maintenance data as well as the location of the machines in your fleet.
We also have ASRi system (Automated Setting Regulation - “i” stands for “intelligent”) which not only helps you to monitor operations, but over time, enables you to become so familiar with your crusher equipment that you can truly optimize usage while protecting it from damage and maximizing uptime. Most of our customers from big cities like Mumbai and Delhi, are using both these technologies.
A considerable amount of our global EBIT is reinvested in R&D. This enables Sandvik, a technology driven organization, to stay ahead of competition and meet changing customer needs.
GST will simplify things as taxes will be regulated
There may have been a decrease in demand due to the transformational changes by the government, which may have had its impact on the construction industry. But I foresee that impact as temporary, as the growth momentum is again back on track. Regarding GST, one thing is clear, that dealing with the previous complex tax structure to now moving to this new regime, is way better. GST will surely simplify things in the long-run as taxes will be regulated.
New at Excon 2017
We have a strong presence in the Mining and infrastructure business and Excon is a great opportunity for us to network with contractors and construction customers. Moreover, it is a platform to display our new generation products. We intend to listen to our esteemed customers and best practices are shared and learnt from each other. We also get inputs from customers which helps our R&D team to develop new products.
This year, we will showcase our innovative range of products, applications, and services, with a focus on our Life Cycle concept in crushing equipment and after-sales service. We will also share case studies where customers from around the world and India, have corroborated - how Sandvik as a solution-provider has enabled them to make their operation more reliable, cost-efficient, safe, and productive.
