MMRDA approves 13-km long SCLR flyover extension
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has opened a flyover connecting Chheda Nagar Junction in Ghatkopar to Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) flyover, and now plans to extend the flyover to Thane. The project involves the construction of a 13-km extension of the Chhedanagar flyover from Ghatkopar to Thane, with a 3+3 lane elevated bridge starting from Chhedanagar in Ghatkopar East and ending at Anandnagar in Thane. MMRDA stated that Chheda Nagar is a significant traffic junction on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) where the Mankhurd Ghatkopar link road meets EEH.
In addition to the flyover extension project, MMRDA has approved several other significant projects, including a tunnel road from Orange Gate to Marine Drive, Versova Virar Sea Bridge, a twin tunnel between Thane and Borivali, and a giant observation wheel. The development authority's statement underlines its commitment to improving the transportation infrastructure of Mumbai and surrounding regions.
