Decks cleared for new Garia-Airport Metro in Kolkata
The new Garia-Airport Metro at EM Bypass’s Metropolitan crossing in Kolkata has received a green signal after 6 years of wait. The RVNL has been provided a 125-meter site by the traffic department, and after securing the NOC, the work was started on bridging viaduct gap. RVNL, which is building the 32km Orange line, had made the request for the site for the past six years to erect four pillars to fill the gap in the deck on which tracks are laid. Due to this logjam, the city’s longest Metro corridor project, launched in 2011, missed multiple deadlines due to land hurdles.
