UPMRC accelerates Agra Metro Tunneling Work
The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has fast-tracked the Agra Metro Rail Project, and the tunneling work is progressing well as the TBM ‘Yamuna’ has already achieved its last breakthrough for the Up line at Taj Mahal Metro Station after completing tunnelling work from Ramlila Maidan to Taj Mahal Metro Station. It has successfully constructed a tunnel from Ramlila Maidan (launching shaft) to the Taj Mahal Metro Station. The tunnel construction work for the Agra Metro Rail Project’s underground section is going on smoothly; this breakthrough marks yet another milestone for the completion of the Underground section. While the civil work of all underground stations is already being carried out rapidly, the tunnel construction work is being executed by three TBMs- Yamuna, Ganga and Shivaji. In fact, an important milestone of completing the tunnel section for the Up line for three stations has also been completed, and the metro corridor will be commissioned in the next 6 months, much ahead of schedule i.e August 2024. The three elevated stations and train depots are ready. The testing of metro trains is being conducted successfully on the mainline, as informed by Managing Director Sushil Kumar.
