Repair Works Initiated on Belagavi-Goa Road Following Public Demand
Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi has launched repair works on the Belagavi-Goa Road via Chorla near Kankumbi, addressing long-standing demands from various organizations and the public. The repair works, covering a 43.3 km stretch of the Belagavi-Chorla-Goa state highway-748A, were initiated following discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Minister Jarkiholi highlighted the significance of the road as a crucial link between Karnataka and Goa and assured completion of the repair works, including drainage and bridge construction, within 11 months. The project, estimated at ₹58.9 crore, aims to enhance connectivity and convenience for passengers traveling between Belagavi and Goa. Additionally, plans for further infrastructure development, including upgrading Gokak Falls into a tourist destination and constructing a flyover in Belagavi city, were discussed to address traffic congestion and promote tourism in the region. Khanapur MLA Vitthal Halagekar expressed gratitude for addressing the longstanding demand for road repair, emphasizing the benefits it will bring to the community.
