Assam clears Rs 3,000-cr for economic corridor
The Assam cabinet has approved Rs 3,000 crore for the construction of a 1,000-km-long economic corridor in the state, Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah informed. The cabinet has granted its in-principle approval for the project under the Asom Mala Scheme. Apart from this, the cabinet has also approved projects worth Rs 950 crore for improving rural infrastructure, which includes rural roads and bridges under the Public Works Department. Furthermore, it has also given its nod for the allotment of a plot for the construction of a judicial guest house in Kaziranga, and approved an additional Rs 11.91 crore to complete the construction of a new office building of the Commissioner of Taxes.
