Dehradun to Mussoorie Rs. 300-cr ropeway set for launch in Sept 2026
The Rs. 300 crore mono-cable ropeway project linking Dehradun to Mussoorie is scheduled to be completed by September 2026. The ropeway will cut down the 33 kms driving distance between Dehradun and Mussoorie, which can currently take from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic, to a mere 15 minutes. The construction of India's longest ropeway system, spanning over 5.5 kilometers and connecting the twin cities of Dehradun and Mussoorie, has been initiated by the Mussoorie Sky Car Company Pvt. Ltd. This consortium is led by FIL Industries Private Ltd., comprising POMA SAS France and SRM Engineering LLP. For the first time in India, this ropeway will have 10-seater cabins. These enclosed, fully ventilated, glazed, automatic opening and closing-door cabins will initially have the capacity to carry upto 1300 Passengers-Per-Hour-Per-Direction. The all-weather ropeway that will operate throughout the year, come rain or snow, will considerably reduce traffic congestion in the region, especially during peak festive seasons for locals and tourists. This is the first ropeway in India which is being built both for tourism purposes as well as for urban mobility between the two cities in Uttarakhand
