DMRC to build multi-storey bus terminal at Nehru Place
The Delhi government has decided to build a multi-storey bus terminal in Nehru Place. They have asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to build the terminal in South Delhi. The proposed project includes an integrated commercial development area on the existing terminal’s land. The total area allocated for this project is 15,749 square metres, with a five-storey bus depot planned for a plot of 7,735 square metres. The remaining 8,014 square metres will be reserved for a bus depot in the future. The facility, spanning 17,225 square metres across five floors, will have parking space for 472 cars, and the capacity to accommodate over 120 buses. As the government aims to have 80 percent of its bus fleet converted to electric in the next few years, the terminal will have a sizable number of charging ports with airport-like facilities. The transport department has signed a memorandum of understanding with the DMRC for the development of the terminal under a public-private partnership.
