Railways take up Rs 70,000-cr Janjatiya Corridor in tribal regions
The Railways Ministry has started work on the Janjatiya Gaurav Corridor to promote rail services in tribal dominated regions at an investment of Rs 70,000 crore. The detailed project report for a new corridor is underway, informed Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The new lines including those in Janjatiya Gaurav Corridor are being taken forward on the basis of remunerativeness, last mile connectivity, missing links and alternate routes, augmentation of congested/saturated lines, socio-economic considerations depending upon overall availability of funds and competing demands.
